VI Trusted Certificate Category

Cmdlets are usually implemented around resource operations. The four basic operations are CREATE, READ, UPDATE and DELETE. This set of operations is known as CRUD. Most of the cmdlets support CRUD which are respectively cmdlets that start with the New/Get/Set/Remove cmdlet verbs but they also may have additional operations

Step 1: Retrieve a object by running a Get command

You can READ objects by using Get-VITrustedCertificate cmdlet. See example below:

# Retrieves the certificates trusted by the vCenter Server instance and the connected ESXi hosts.

Get-VITrustedCertificate

Step 2 : Run commands from the CRUD group

You can UPDATE objects by using Add-VITrustedCertificate cmdlet. See example below:

# Adds the certificate from ca.pem to the trusted certificate stores of the vCenter Server and all the ESXi hosts connected to the vCenter system.

$caPem = Get-Content ca.pem -Raw Add-VITrustedCertificate -PemCertificateOrChain $caPem
You can REMOVE objects by using Remove-VITrustedCertificate cmdlet. See example below:

# Removes a certificate with the thumbprint "6B953A0738FD...4BD263BEB0" from the ESXi host called "MyESXi".

Get-VITrustedCertificate -VMHost "MyESXi" | ` Where-Object { $_.Certificate.Thumbprint -eq "6B953A0738FD...4BD263BEB0" } | ` Remove-VITrustedCertificate
