VI Credential Category

Cmdlets are usually implemented around resource operations. The four basic operations are CREATE, READ, UPDATE and DELETE. This set of operations is known as CRUD. Most of the cmdlets support CRUD which are respectively cmdlets that start with the New/Get/Set/Remove cmdlet verbs but they also may have additional operations

Step 1: Retrieve a object by running a Get command

You can READ objects by using Get-VICredentialStoreItem cmdlet. See example below: 
# Retrieves the credentials for the 'admin' user on the specified host from a credential store file.
Get-VICredentialStoreItem -User admin -Host 192.168.1.10 -File 'credentials.xml'

Step 2 : Run commands from the CRUD group

You can CREATE objects by using New-VICredentialStoreItem cmdlet. See example below: 
# Adds a new item in the default credential store file.
New-VICredentialStoreItem -Host 192.168.1.10 -User Admin -Password pass
You can REMOVE objects by using Remove-VICredentialStoreItem cmdlet. See example below: 
# Removes all credentials for the specified host from the default credential store file.
Remove-VICredentialStoreItem -Host 192.168.1.100 -Confirm
