Floppy Category

Cmdlets are usually implemented around resource operations. The four basic operations are CREATE, READ, UPDATE and DELETE. This set of operations is known as CRUD. Most of the cmdlets support CRUD which are respectively cmdlets that start with the New/Get/Set/Remove cmdlet verbs but they also may have additional operations

Step 1: Retrieve a object by running a Get command

You can READ objects by using Get-FloppyDrive cmdlet. See example below:

# Retrieves the floppy drive of the virtual machine named VM.

Get-FloppyDrive -VM VM

Step 2 : Run commands from the CRUD group

You can CREATE objects by using New-FloppyDrive cmdlet. See example below:

# Creates a floppy drive backed by the client device /dev/fd0 and sets it to start connected when the virtual machine is powered on.

New-FloppyDrive -VM VM -HostDevice '/dev/fd0' -StartConnected
You can UPDATE objects by using Set-FloppyDrive cmdlet. See example below:

# Sets a floppy to start connected.

Set-FloppyDrive -Floppy $floppy -StartConnected:$true
You can REMOVE objects by using Remove-FloppyDrive cmdlet. See example below:

# Removes the floppy drive of the virtual machine named VM.

$floppy = Get-FloppyDrive -VM VM Remove-FloppyDrive -Floppy $floppy
