API Policy: Changes, Deprecations and Removals

VMware vDefend and associated offerings may add new features that may lead to additional APIs or backward compatible changes to existing APIs to support the new features.

Changes to the API that lead to incompatibility with previous releases will be announced at least one year prior to the change. APIs or API attributes that will be removed will be marked "deprecated" in the API Guide. These changes can be implemented in either major or minor releases.

APIs marked as "experimental" or those not documented in the API Guide are not subject to this policy. Such APIs may be changed or removed without notice in a future release.

Definitions:

  • Major Release: Designated by an increment of the "x" digit of the x.y.z product version.
  • Minor Release: Designated by an increment of the "y" digit of the x.y.z product version.
