Introduction

In this guide, the VMware Salt for VCF Components API (Salt for VCF API) refers to the API endpoint hosted on VMware Salt RaaS for VCF Components server (Salt RaaS for VCF) that Salt clients connect to. This server is deployed by default with the VCF Management Services when deploying VCF 9.1.1. You can see this Salt RaaS for VCF server from Operations Fleet Lifecycle as a component service listed as Salt RaaS.

Note that once enabled, the Salt for VCF API endpoint will be reachable via https://yourvcfms.com/raas/rpc. See VCF 9.1.1 Administration SDKs, APIs, and CLI > VMware Salt for VCF Components API TechDocs on endpoint enablement.

VMware Salt RaaS for VCF Components is organized into modules (called "resources") and functions (called "methods"). In the API call test.echo('hello, world'), the resource is test and the method is echo(). Arguments can be passed to methods by position or by keyword.

VMware Salt for VCF Component APIs can be accessed via cURL over HTTPS.
